Autumn Reading List

One of the few good things I like about the colder weather, besides hot chocolate and cuddling up near the fireplace, is having more reading time. I’ve always loved to read but I’ve got to admit that sometimes it can be hard to find the time. Since I do become a bit of a hermit during the colder days I find myself having a lot more free time to do what I love. In this case reading, so I’ve compiled a list of 5 books that I want to finish reading this Autumn. If you want to know what 5 books I’ve chosen then just keep reading…

1. ANNA KARENINA – LEO TOLSTOY

I first started reading this book two years ago and I got through about 3 chapters of it before I lost it in a sea of boxes when we moved. Since then I have always wanted to finish reading it and after putting it of for so long I thought now would be the perfect time for me to dive into it. I’ve always loved Tolstoy’s style of writing and the way he can pull you into a story and have you hanging on every word. I’m really looking forward to reading this literary masterpiece.

2. THE ART OF HAPPINESS – DALAI LAMA & HOWARD C. CUTLER

The Art Of Happiness, – what better person to learn about happiness from then the Dalai Lama himself. I have always admired the mindset and attitude the Dalai Lama has towards life. The way he uses his voice to show people around the world how they can improve their lives by choosing the positive, compassion, love, tolerance, and acceptance of the others. I’ve loved watching his talks online and I can’t wait to read the wisdom he shares through this book.

3. CIAO TUSCANY – ALLAN PARKER

Ah Tuscany, I think if you would go through my entire book collection then this would be my 8th book about beautiful Tuscany. I don’t know what it is about the place but somehow it has a way of making me feel like it’s home. Have you ever felt that way about a place you’ve never been to? In this book it follows Allan and Nancy Parker’s daily life and their journey of discovering what it really means to be Tuscan.

4. BELLA TUSCANY – FRANCES MAYES

This here is book number two in my Frances Mayes book collection. Ever since I read Under The Tuscan Sun (wonderful book btw – definitely read it if you haven’t already) I have been on a mission to buy all her books. There is just something about the way she writes and tells stories that is so relaxing yet captivating at the same time. I could read what she writes anywhere, – relaxing on a beach, curled up near a fireplace or while taking a bath. Bella Tuscany continues were Under The Tuscan Sun left off, and follows her and her husbands adventures of discovering more of the beauty of Italy. I loved the first book and I have no doubt I’m gonna love this one just as much.

5. IT’S ALL GREEK TO ME – JOHN MOLE

I had never heard of this book or the author before but when I first saw the cover I immediately thought Under The Tuscan Sun: Greek Edition. And I guess you could say it is sort of like it in some ways. In this book it follows John Mole and his families journey of moving to Greece, buying a ruined property and renovating it to become their new home. While I haven’t read it yet I have a feeling it’s going to quickly become one of my favorites.

Happy Reading!
